‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ Shatters Records with N1.6 Billion West Africa Revenue and $327,000 in Global Earnings

Funke Akindele has once again proven herself a box office titan with her latest project, ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa,’ grossing N1.6 billion in West Africa and attracting a whopping $327,000 worldwide.

Premiering on 13th December 2024, its four-week run has been exciting, earning itself the award for Nollywood’s highest grossing film of all time in Nigeria and diaspora.

In an Instagram post, the actress attributed her success to God: “Na God do am o.” She also appreciated her fans, thanking them for their support, saying, “I am so grateful to you all.”

‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ is a spinoff from the Jenifa franchise that stars Funke Akindele as a native village girl who is a hustler. In this installment, Akindele draws from the enduring appeal of the titular character, taking her on a fresh journey of self-discovery, hilarity, and personal growth.

Prior to the production, Akindele made history with ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ the first Nollywood film to cross the one-billion-naira mark at the box office. The film, a gripping tale of identity, family, and redemption, resonated deeply with both local and international audiences.

The box office queen’s track record is unparalleled. With hits like ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’ and ‘Battle on Buka Street,’ Akindele has solidified herself as a force to be reckoned with.

The success of ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa,’ especially in the United States, is a testament to the growing thirst for Nollywood outside the shores of Africa.

Funke Akindele’s billion-naira triumphs are more than just box office records; they are landmarks in the cultural and economic evolution of Nollywood. They herald a future where Nigerian filmmakers can confidently compete on the global stage, not just as purveyors of entertainment but as storytellers weaving narratives that resonate universally.

As she continues to break barriers, Funke Akindele shines as a beacon of possibility. And proof that the world is ready to embrace Nigerian stories.
