Watching ‘House of Gaa’ made me appreciate ‘Anikulapo,’ ‘King of Thieves,’ ‘Jagun Jagun,’ ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ etc better.
I don’t think the characters were well built and their falls were not executed well too. I didn’t feel scared, sad, or happy for any of them.Show more
I know they might pass it as fiction, but the war costumes were not believable. How and when did Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, and the other women know how to fight? Oyemekun was all over the place; I couldn’t feel sad for him enough.
I didn’t understand BAP’s appearance. It just didn’t fit. Who was she? Was she Olaotan’s wife? It worked in ‘Funmilayo Ransome Kuti,’ but definitely not here.
I’ve seen a lot of people call this the best production of the year, and I don’t know what they are talking about sha. Maybe it’s just me.

However, it looked good. And I’ll be looking forward to another take on Bashorun Gaa’s story in the future.
I struggled watching House of Ga’a.
From the historical inaccuracies to the poor accent to the costume. Why not employ the services of historians?
It’s disappointing to watch a movie about Oyo and see actors who can’t speak the dialect. That really took me out of the experience.
House of Ga’a is a decent film, but the casting choices could use some improvement.
