MultiChoice Nigeria Announces New Leadership: Kemi Omotosho Succeeds John Ugbe

MultiChoice Nigeria, a Canal+ company, recently announced the appointment of Kemi Omotosho as the new  chief executive officer following the retirement of John Ugbe.

Ugbe steps down after nearly 15 years in the position. He has witnessed the successful transition of the organisation through consumer behaviour, technological advancements, and regulations within the media and pay-TV.

Omotosho brings over 20 years of leadership experience to this  position, having worked across the media, telecoms, and digital services  in Nigeria and  other sub-Saharan African countries. She previously served as Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she managed end-to-end business performance and held P&L oversight across seven markets.

As CEO, she will lead MultiChoice Nigeria’s strategic direction, manage daily business activities, and drive relationships with regulators, partners, and key stakeholders.  While speaking  to the media, Omotosho expressed her joy and excitement about leading such a dynamic market. She  looks forward to championing local storytelling, supporting Nigeria’s creative economy, and working hand in hand with stakeholders to ensure a future-ready and sustainable organisation.

The company emphasises Omotosho’s appointment as part of a structured succession plan designed to ensure continuity and stability within the organisation. With Nigeria being one of the biggest MultiChoice markets in West Africa and with her track record, we look forward to nothing but excellence.
