Tunde Apalowo’s Nigerian Gay-Themed Movie “All The Colours of the World Are Between Black & White” Premieres at Berlin Film Festival.

“All The Colours of the World Are Between Black & White,” written and directed by Babatunde Apalowo, will have its premiere on February 17, 2023 as part of the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival in Panorama. The director expresses his reaction to the selection in an exclusive statement, saying “Being selected to premiere my debut feature film on a big stage like the Berlinale is an incredible honour and validation of the hard work and dedication myself and the team put into the making of the film. It is an amazing opportunity to showcase my vision to a wider audience and further buttress the relevance of Nigerian cinema. It is a dream come true and I feel incredibly humbled and grateful for the opportunity.”

The movie centres around two men, Bambino and Bawa, who become friendly after meeting in Lagos during a photography competition. As they explore the city, they grow to care deeply for one another. However, because of societal expectations regarding homosexuality, they are unable to express their desires.

On the themes and relevance of the movie, Apalowo stated, “The main themes of the movie is love, as it is a love story between two people, despite their sexual identities. The film is a reflection on love, identity, acceptance and the complexities of navigating life as an outsider in a society that often rejects those who are different.” The movie is produced by Damilola Orimogunje of Polymath pictures.
