The upcoming film ‘Owambe Thieves’ is a mixture of drama, humor, and social commentary. At the heart of the film are Cheta and Lola, a young couple struggling to navigate a tough recession in Nigeria while raising their newborn child. Desperate to stay afloat, they become involved in an unexpected scheme that could change their lives.
Directed by Adeoluwa Owu and produced by Barbara Babarinsa and Eniola Ajao, ‘Owambe Thieves’ is a comic relief led by Eniola Ajao and Zubby Michael. The movie features appearances from Juju music maestro Sir Shina Peters, internet sensation Abike Raheem, popularly known as Papaya Ex, and Tolani Baj, who are joined by Phyna Otabor, Mo Bimpe Adedimeji, and Sexy Steel.
Taiwo Adeyemi, Denrele Edun, and Tobi Makinde add to the ensemble, alongside Olumide Oworu. Ronke Oshodi Oke, Wumi Toriola, and Fathia Balogun Williams are also part of the lineup, as well as Ikechukwu Onunaku. Rounding out the cast are Femi Branch, Akin Lewis, Allwell Ademola, and Tope Olowoniyan.

With its engaging plot and a strong cast, the co-production between Anthill Studios, Lighthouse Pictures, and Filmone Studios is shaping up to be a cinematic event movie. As one cast member put it, “It’s going to be something different.”
