Media entrepreneur and talk show host Chude Jideonwo appears in the new drama ‘Onobiren’, marking his first role in a film released in cinemas.
Written by Laju Iren and directed by Famous Odion Iraoya, the film opens in theatres tomorrow, March 6, through FilmOne Entertainment.
In the film, Jideonwo makes a cameo as himself, the host of his interview platform #WithChude, a decision he says was driven by his admiration for Iren’s storytelling.
Although ‘Onobiren’ marks Jideonwo’s first appearance in a theatrical release, the ‘Awaiting Trial’ producer and director has appeared in films before.
He previously made cameo appearances in projects including ‘Sin: First Blood’, continuing a pattern of occasional on-screen roles alongside his work in media, storytelling and public speaking.
For the premiere, Jideonwo wore an outfit combining contemporary styling with traditional Niger Delta elements, in line with the evening’s cultural theme.
‘Onobiren’ follows Ruby Akubueze as Roli, a young woman who leaves Warri for Lagos and embarks on a journey shaped by survival, purpose and support.
The film also stars Bisola Aiyeola, Patience Ozokwor, Deyemi Okanlawon, Norbert Young and Desmond Bryce.
Directed by Famous Iraoya and produced by Laju Iren Films in partnership with Africa No Filter and CcHub’s Creative Economy Practice, the project explores themes of women navigating work, identity and social expectations.
‘Onobiren’ begins showing in cinemas nationwide tomorrow.

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story described ‘Onobiren‘ as Chude Jideonwo’s Nollywood debut. He previously appeared in cameo roles, including ‘Sin: First Blood‘. The story has been updated to reflect that ‘Onobiren‘ is his first film released in cinemas.
