NdaniTV has set a July 17, 2026, premiere date for ‘Extra Love’, their new 10-episode limited series that centres on the lives of struggling Nollywood background actors.
The series will debut on the platform’s YouTube channel with a staggered rollout: four episodes on premiere day, followed by three episodes on July 24 and the final three on July 31.
Created and produced by Lani Aisida and directed by Nwamaka Chikezie, ‘Extra Love’ follows Wudi, a frustrated extra chasing a breakthrough role, and Azi, her partner and fellow struggler. Together, they navigate the uncertainties of an industry defined by constant auditions, inconsistent work, and limited visibility.
Positioned as a light dramedy, the series uses romance as an entry point into a broader portrait of Nollywood’s informal labour structure, particularly the ecosystem of extras and day players who operate at the margins of the industry.
The ensemble cast includes Toluwani George, Mallum Arik, Omosalewa Fafowora, Kanaga Eme Jnr, Bryan Okoye, Chioma Nwosu, Oluwatobiloba ‘Oli Ekun’ Olubiyi, and Obehi Aburime.
Writers Owumi Ugbeye and Mary Nsikanabasi Uyoh describe the series as both a tribute and a character study. In separate statements, they describe ‘Extra Love’ as a story about the resilience of performers who remain largely unseen despite forming a critical layer of the production pipeline.
The project continues the channel’s long-running focus on youth-oriented, digital-first storytelling but with a more reflexive angle, turning its lens inward on Nollywood itself rather than adjacent lifestyle narratives.
Backed by Guaranty Trust Bank, NdaniTV has built one of the more consistent pipelines for web-native Nigerian series, using YouTube as its primary distribution channel to reach both domestic and diaspora audiences.
With the new limited series, the platform adds to a growing set of industry-facing stories that examine stardom as well as the labour and persistence that underpin it.
