Sharon Ooja Egwurube hails from the Idoma tribe in Benue State, although she was born in Kaduna State. Raised with three sisters, she began her educational journey at Kings and Queens School in Jos for primary education, and later attended two boarding all-girls schools for her secondary education – Regina Pacis Secondary School in Garki II, Abuja, and St. Louis Girls’ College in Jos. Her entrance into the world of acting came about when she relocated to Lagos in 2013.
In an interview with Punch newspaper, Sharon recounted how her acting career commenced. During a photo session for a store, NdaniTV documented the behind-the-scenes moments, which eventually led to an interview opportunity that didn't materialize. Nonetheless, this experience paved the way for her involvement in the television series "Gidi Up," where she landed a small role. Her notable appearance in "Skinny Girl in Transit" saw her portray the character Shalewa.
Sharon furthered her education, graduating in mass communication from Houdegbe North American University Benin. In 2017, she co-hosted GT Bank's Fashion Week red carpet alongside Timini Egbuson. Her accomplishments didn't go unnoticed, as she was recognized as a prominent female celebrity in 2020 and anticipated to shine as a Nollywood actress in 2021. Netflix selected her, along with others, to represent Nigeria in the "The Bridgerton Affair" program held in South Africa.
