In this gripping drama, Tones plays Madam T. Tosin, a woman whose journey takes her from a naive, protected housewife and thrusts her into a dark, dangerous world, only to end up leading it. It is a character arc that is both bold and compelling and one that Tones embraced with fearless confidence.
The role of Tosin isn’t far removed from Toni Tone’s real-life experiences. Speaking candidly, she shared how life has repeatedly placed her in positions where she’s had to face hard truths and push through tough moments. It’s this personal strength and resilience that allowed her to embody Tosin’s transformation so naturally. According to Tones, the title ‘SIN’ is a nod to her character’s name, Tosin. “I found the role very thrilling and exhilarating,” she said. “It’s not often that women get to play the role of the hunter, and I loved every moment of it.”
Reflecting on the demands of the role, Tones used the opportunity to shed light on the uncelebrated work that women, particularly housewives, do. She emphasised that housewives are often underappreciated despite performing roles that many professionals are paid handsomely for. “Anyone who walks in the shoes of a housewife will realise it’s not a joke,” she remarked. “I hope housewives celebrate themselves more and recognise how much they do.”
Toni Tones also shared her admiration for ‘Sin’s’ director, Yemi ‘Filmboy’ Morafa, crediting him for creating a conducive environment that allows actors to flourish. “He’s an actor’s director, and I absolutely loved working with him 100%,” she said, acknowledging his unique ability to guide while giving room for artistic expression.
