Blue Pictures Entertainment and FilmTribe Media have officially kicked off auditions for ‘Bwari Blue’, the flagship feature of their NextGen Films Initiative, and they’re calling on fresh talent from across Lagos to Abuja to step into the spotlight.
Launched by Blue Pictures CEO Joy Efe Odiete as part of her biannual CSR conference, the NextGen Films Initiative aims to handhold emerging creatives through mentorship, skills workshops and real-world experience. “This isn’t just another casting call,” Odiete explains. “It’s our way of closing the creative gaps in our industry—by empowering tomorrow’s storytellers today.”

According to Odiete, their collaboration with FilmTribe Media and the open casting call for ‘Bwari Blue’, which won the prize for Best Pitch at the 2023 NextGen Conference, will offer a rare entry point for rising storytellers and performers to work alongside some of the most innovative minds in Nigerian cinema.
AMVCA Trailblazer director and co‑producer at FilmTribe Kayode Kasum says the movie is “a love letter to community, resilience and identity”. “We’re looking for voices whose energy can bring this story to life,” Kasum says. “Through ‘Bwari Blue’, we’re building a pipeline of talent that reflects the depth and diversity of our cinema.”
Filming for the flagship feature under the initiative is slated to begin in July 2025, with scenes set across the vibrant streets of Lagos and the greenery of Abuja. Whether you’re an actor just starting out or an experienced face hungry for a breakthrough, this is your chance to work alongside some of the industry’s most innovative minds.
Here’s everything you need to know:
