Niyi Akinmolayan is inviting producers, directors, and casting agents to participate in the next phase of the OneTake App, the platform designed to connect actors with filmmakers. After completing its beta testing, the app is now opening up for broader industry testing and feedback.
Available on both the App Store and Google Play Store, the OneTake App comes in two versions, each distinguished by its logo color. The red-logo version is for actors, allowing them to build detailed profiles, upload headshots, and showcase their talent. The black-logo version is for industry professionals such as producers, directors, and casting agents, who can use it to find and hire talent.
“This is the app that makes the real matching happen,” Akinmolayan explained. “The red OneTake is for actors, but the black OneTake is where producers, directors, and casting agencies connect with the right talent.”
He emphasized that the new professional version of the app is still being refined, and industry feedback is crucial to shaping it into the tool the film community needs. “We can’t know if the timing is right or if it works perfectly without you,” he said. “That’s why we need producers, directors, and casting agents, whether you’re an OG in the industry or just starting out, to test it and give us quality feedback.”
However, he noted that access to the black-logo app comes with an important condition: verification. This step is necessary to protect actors and prevent fraudulent activities within the community. “We’ve seen how people can take advantage of gullible talents. To avoid that, everyone who signs up as an industry professional will have to go through a verification process,” Akinmolayan stressed.
To speed things up for early testers, Akinmolayan invited interested producers, directors, and casting agents to share their email addresses with him directly for fast-track approval.
In addition, he announced that a special Zoom demo session will hold on Saturday, giving industry professionals a walkthrough of how the app works. The process is straightforward: users can create a project, set requirements (such as age, gender, or location), and upload audition details. The app then filters submissions to ensure only the most relevant actors apply, making auditions smoother and more efficient.
“With this, even if thousands of actors are on the app, only those who match your specifications will audition,” Akinmolayan said. “It makes the process faster, cleaner, and ensures that the best talents shine on screen.”
Niyi Akinmolayan closed with a call to action, encouraging the industry to take ownership of the platform’s growth: “We can’t build this without you. Help us test it, help us make it better, and together, we’ll create something powerful for Nollywood and beyond.”
