‘Behind the Scenes’, directed and produced by Funke Akindele, has crossed ₦1 billion at the Nigerian box office, with a total gross of ₦1,109,463,846. The film remains in cinemas nationwide.
The milestone comes with multiple records. ‘Behind the Scenes’ is the fastest film in West Africa to cross ₦1 billion, recorded the highest single-day box office gross in Nigeria on Boxing Day with ₦129.5 million, and is currently the highest-grossing Nigerian release of 2025.
With this achievement, Akindele becomes the only Nollywood director to cross ₦1 billion at the box office three different times, the highest-grossing producer in Nollywood history, and the first filmmaker to deliver three consecutive ₦1 billion-grossing films within a single calendar year. The film is distributed by FilmOne Entertainment.
Reacting to the milestone, the Box Office Queen credited both faith and fan support for her success. “Over the years, I’ve always valued my fans, because without God and you, I am nobody. Thank you all for coming out to watch this movie and for supporting my brand through the years.”
She also acknowledged industry support and the film’s team, saying, “Thank you to the distributors and my colleagues—especially those not in the movie who still came out to meet and greet my fans. Big love to the cast and crew. This is only the beginning; let’s take ‘Behind the Scenes’ even further. If you haven’t seen it yet, please come watch with your family and friends.”
Behind the Scenes continues its run in cinemas across Nigeria.
