I think Nollywood is Tapping into alot of High school stories most especially on YouTube,Yawa Skits is showing the New Girl,Ruth Kadiri showed After School,Showdeck is showing Friends from School And now All of Us Joins the list.
It is nice that these contents try to imbed impact stories and the content is more streamlined.
Briefly,All of us is the story of a group of high school students that found themselves in the middle of a crime that will bond them by secret until a body is uncovered and things go south.
WHAT WORKED.
There is good production quality and values, light, sound all good, storyline is not bad and you can tell a good budget went I to the project, most especially for the fact that it’s on YouTube so kudus to them
ISSUES
The first issue I had with this project is that Casting didn’t quite work because most highschool movies in Nigeria tend to forget that students at that level speak a certain way, behave a certain manner and they actually do have limitations from parents so when you have people like Eronini Osinachi,Tomi Ojo and Jemima Osunde pass for secondarians and they practically act thesame way we have seen their adult version in other movies,it waters down their high school characterization,I think they had so many stars to show off, what was Iyabo Ojo really there for,Lilian and and Aduni
Secondly,we are seeing Elijah, son of a clergy under scrutiny from his father yet arranges a party with his friends, how did they get the money and how did he disappear from his parents like that, there was alcohol all over the party and these secondarians just happened to be by themselves with no issues from their parents, how convenient,at some point,I tried to understand the story progression, the past and present was a bit confusing,if not for the uniforms, one will think these students were in the university.
Thirdly, a corp member is having an affair with a student and he is keeping it a secret yet he shows up at an all students party and tries to cover his face with his hand? All I can say is wow.
Marcus dies as a serving corp member and yet we didn’t see NYSC in the picture, the police launches investigation that was basically a circus.
Number four,I always cringe at the way they always cast actors that speak Very annoying pidgin Hausa that doesn’t even sound pleasant as vernacular, Layla’s parents are Hausa and she could barely speak a phrase, why even make her speak at all.
Generally,I think this project while following the trend of others alike also tried to show that there is hardly discipline in our high schools most especially if it is a private school it means everyone just has money to control grades and keep their bad behavior going, the target audience becomes confusing even though they get the views.
In the End,it was just there even though I appreciate the effort, most especially because it’s a debut for Eni producing and being an Executive, there is always room to do better
