Renowned Nollywood stalwarts Yemi Solade and Ronke Oshodi Oke, who have collectively graced screens for decades, reunite in the upcoming film ‘Ajosepo,’ helmed by director Kayode Kasum.
In an exclusive chat with Nollywire, these seasoned veterans delve into their enduring professional bond, the joy of collaborating once more, and their anticipation for the roles they portray in ‘Ajosepo,’ a family drama meticulously crafted by Kasum.
The drama unfolds the tale of Dapo and Tani, portrayed by Solade and Oshodi, respectively, two young lovers bracing for marriage amidst family gatherings at an opulent hotel. Yet, festivities spiral into chaos as buried secrets, familial tensions, and unforeseen revelations threaten to fracture the union. Written by Stephen Okonkwo and based on a story by Dare Olaitan, the film, under Kasum’s direction, serves as an exploration of familial bonds, love, and the intricacies of relationships.
Offering invaluable insights gleaned from their extensive careers, Solade and Oshodi provide candid advice on navigating the trials of love and family dynamics. In an era marred by escalating divorce rates and marital discord, the duo stresses the importance of mitigating conflicts before they escalate. Drawing from the harrowing experiences of fellow industry peers, they highlight the detrimental impact of toxic relationships on children.
Oshodi emphasises, “Even in the aftermath of a failed marriage, maintaining unity is paramount.” She underscores the traumatic toll on children when exposed to parental discord, asserting that a fractured relationship inevitably harms their emotional well-being. Solade echoes this sentiment, stressing the imperative of shielding children from the fallout of tumultuous unions.
The film, spearheaded by Kasum and bolstered by a stellar cast including Mike Afolarin, Tomike Adeoye, Timini Egbuson, Kanaga Jnr., Bisola Aiyeola, and Deyemi Okanlawon, promises to deliver a thought-provoking narrative on the complexities of marriage and familial strife.
As the premiere approaches on April 10, ‘Ajosepo’ stands to offer audiences a profound cinematic experience, delving deep into the intricacies of human relationships and the enduring ties that bind families together.
