In the heart of Cannes, one of the most prestigious gatherings in global cinema, the Nile Group, in partnership with Screen International and Screen Nigeria, hosted an unforgettable evening titled “Nigeria Goes Global: An Exploration of Global Partnerships for Local Productions”. The exclusive two-part event marked a significant step forward in elevating Nigeria’s film industry onto the global stage.

The night began with an intimate Roundtable session, a private affair gathering a carefully curated group of just 14 industry thought leaders representing the spectrum of global film. The discussions were candid, forward-looking, and deeply insightful, delving into collaborative pathways for co-productions, creative exchange, and the future of content distribution across continents.

Following the Roundtable, the event opened up to a wider audience for a stylish cocktail reception. Held against the elegant backdrop of Cannes, it was an evening of conversation, cultural exchange, and celebration. With fine food, flowing drinks, and dynamic networking, the reception brought together an eclectic mix of filmmakers, distributors, producers, and creative entrepreneurs from around the world.

Among the high points of the evening were powerful remarks delivered by Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, who spoke passionately about the government’s commitment to supporting the creative industry and fostering international partnerships. The Commissioner for Lagos State also addressed guests, highlighting Lagos’ central role as a production hub and cultural epicentre for Africa’s creative output. Closing the night, Moses Babatope, CEO of Nile Group, offered heartfelt remarks, tying the evening’s themes together with a call for continued collaboration and bold storytelling.
