Femi Adebayo’s ‘Agesinkole 2’ has recorded ₦417 million in 12 days at community cinemas and regualr cinemas marking a notable milestone for Nollywood exhibition outside traditional multiplexes.
The film is the first Nollywood title to be shown in community cinemas at scale and the first community cinema release to reach the ₦400 million mark, setting a new commercial benchmark within the alternative exhibition space.
The film stars Femi Adebayo, Lateef Adedimeji, Fathia Balogun, Bukunmi Oluwashina, Adebayo Salami, Olayinka Quadri, Bimbo Ademoye, Peju Ogunmola, Kunle Afod and Aisha Lawal.
Reacting to the achievement on Instagram, Adebayo described the performance as evidence of the power of collaboration within the industry. “This is proof that meaningful collaboration between purpose-driven organisations can change the trajectory of the future of our industry. Cinema is communal! This is our shared vision,” he wrote.
He added that the success goes beyond box office figures, calling it “faith rewarded, courage justified, and vision affirmed,” while thanking audiences who supported the film during its run. “To everyone who showed up, believed, bought a ticket, and made history with us, this victory is yours,” Adebayo said.
What began as an unconventional release strategy has translated into measurable box office success, driven by sustained audience turnout across community cinema locations.
As its run continues, ‘Agesinkole 2’ stands as a significant example of how films can perform outside the conventional multiplex system.
