The subject matter of the movie is quite understandable. It’s clearly the journey of life, we basically leave home and journey through life with strangers, coming across variety of people on the way. Gabriel really did well.
Movie Title: U – Turn
Source: Netflix
Genre: Drama.
Just when I thought I had finished watching my quota of bad movies for the year, in comes U- Turn in all it’s glory.
I’m disappointed to say the least, and I rushed to download because of Gabriel Afolayan.
I can’t even make head or tail of the movie.
A taxi driver and a Lone passenger on the journey to Ibadan.
The Lone passenger takes on the following roles during the journey. An Igbo Man,a Business Man, a Yoruba Man, an Assassin, a Glutton, a French Man, a Motivational Speaker and lastly a Wealthy Man.
The taxi driver is a Man with enough family problems and a side chick who now has instructions from one Baba on how to make money from his passenger.
All this happens on a journey that had no beginning or ending and in the space of almost one and a half hour.
The motivational talks at the end by Gabriel was annoying because it was misplaced, there was absolutely no background for it.
Some parts of the movie was interesting and funny. The story had several parts that could have been fully developed and worked on, but everything was just bungled up.
Special thanks to Gabriel for confusing us.
Recommendation: No
Rating: 1.5.
Story is king and this film delivers on that.
But Nollywood is show biz, so it is not enough to only have a good story, you have to dazzle the audience in its delivery. Unfortunately, this movie didn’t.
And coming from Gabriel Afolayan and Netflix, the expectations were even higher.
