Big let down.

Film was beautiful, and it probably cost a lot to create those sets, but the story did a lot and did nothing at the same time.

There was a lot of setup, tensions, and conflicts that were just left unresolved.

Was the son murdered or did he commit suicide?

Did Eleshin oba fulfill his mission by the suicide? Even though he didn’t speak the words to his son.Show more

Why did they all turn on him even though he was arrested before their eyes and they all did nothing?

I even thought the Prince being in Nigeria was going to be a strong plot device, .

Then they kept on speaking parables, as if it was a film for old yoruba people. Throw little proverb, and speak good yoruba, and people will enjoy you.

Don’t even get me started with the governor and his wife.

Maybe I’m not feeling the movie because I never read the book.

But it felt like a short drama, drawn our to a movie and much was dramatised, that was not needed.

The quality and cast choices were on point. But at some point, I got lost especially where the son decided to take the role of his father and be the Eleshin Oba. And when the father found out, he committed suicide. Anyways it’s not a bad movie. It’s a 6 out of 10 for me

Elesin Oba is a good movie portraying solid dialogue and excellent actors however there are some loopholes which the excellent acting made it easy to look over
