The movie was amazing
The camera quality is so amazing. Sorry line on check but Kunle Afolayan decided to leave us with the part 2 in our heads.
There are a lot of questions to be answered.
What happened to the evil queens that poisoned Arolake?
How was Arolake able to escape the judgement of The Alaafin of Oyo? How???Show more
The Akala bird just let them use its powers just like that?
All in all, it is an 8 out of 10 movie for me
I found ANIKULAPO absolutely mesmerizing from beginning to end.
Totally engrossed, I watched the movie twice (yesterday and today) and will watch it once more, probably Wed.
What I found compelling was the story line that was able to be told in a format that was totally authentic from the actors to the to the attire they wore to the villages they lived in.Show more
There was soooo much authentic culture in this film that I was sorry to see it end.
The cultural aspect is what moved Me to see it a second time and now a third time.
Interestingly enough all the Actors were Excellent, but as quiet as it’s kept the Actor playing Saro was carried in the movie. He did not carry the movie.
In fact to Me He was borderline boring. He seemed to lack personality and depth and He lacked subtext.
It was only towards the end of the movie that You got to see definitive person when He insisted He marry the Princess before He would perform the resurrection.
Even then when the gourd no longer had power, his response to that was flat.
Everyone else was strong in their role and for the most part excellent– especially Sola Sobowale 5***** STARS to Her.
The Actor who played Arolake was right behind Sola. Her work was so fine and subtle, while rich in subtext; it was an unbelievably masterful work that She did.
The whole time I watched the movie I felt like I was there in that time with those people.
What a MASTERPIECE this movie is. I am currently living in Ghana. I look forward to visiting Nigeria.
In the meantime I will definitely spread the word about ANIKULAPO!
