Being a Nollyphile means more than just watching Nollywood films; it’s about living with them, obsessing over them, and constantly reimagining what else could be possible. For DJ Talia, that obsession has always circled back to Ramsey Nouah. From the VHS tapes of the 90s to the glossy streaming titles of today, he has followed his journey and still believes there are roles he hasn’t yet touched, sides of him Nollywood hasn’t fully explored.
In his Nollyphile story, he imagines Ramsey Nouah breaking out in Hollywood, slipping into a razz comedy role, or even taking on a family drama that flips his usual on-screen dominance. His answers show what it means to love Nollywood as more than entertainment, to treat it as a playground for imagination.
What Nollywood role do you want to see your favourite actor play?
Right now, my favourite Nollywood actor would be Ramsey Nouah. I know he has already played so many different characters, but I still feel there’s more for him. At this stage, I’d honestly love to see him break into Hollywood.
With his charisma, the way he carries himself, and how he interprets lines, he could easily stand out on an international stage. It’s not just about leaving Nollywood; it’s about showing the rest of the world what we’ve already seen from him for years.
Why do you think he would kill it?
I’ve been watching Nollywood since I was a kid, back in the VHS days, and Ramsey was one of those names that always stood out. Over the years, I’ve watched him transition from the romantic lead to more layered roles, and he does it so convincingly. There’s a way he embodies his characters that makes you forget you’re watching an actor. That quality, the ability to disappear into a role, is why I know he could thrive anywhere, even beyond Nollywood.
Is there a specific Nollywood movie or character you’d love to see him reinterpret?
Yes, I think he would have been amazing in ‘Breath of Life’. I can already see him carrying the main character, a man wrestling with grief and faith. Ramsey has the emotional depth for that kind of role. He would have brought a weight to it that could shift the whole tone of the movie, making it hit even harder with audiences.

Do you see him more in a dramatic, comedic, action-packed, or supernatural role?
Comedy and I mean the kind that catches people off guard. I would love to see him play a very razz, exaggerated character that is completely opposite of the polished “boss” roles we’re used to seeing him in. Something hilarious and chaotic that lets audiences see a whole new side of him.
What part of his real-life personality would shine through in that role?
From the little glimpses we get, Ramsey has a sarcastic, witty, and even savage side. That energy would be perfect for comedy. I imagine him throwing sharp one-liners the way a stand-up comedian does when they’re roasting someone. That kind of timing and delivery would make the role unforgettable.
Which other Nollywood actor would you want him to star alongside?
Definitely Nse Ikpe-Etim. She’s such a strong presence on screen, and pairing her with Ramsey would be electric. I think their chemistry would be incredible, the kind of pairing that pulls audiences in immediately.
If you could pitch a brand-new Nollywood movie for them, what would it be?
I’d love to put Ramsey and Nse in a family drama. They’d play a married couple, but the twist is that Nse’s character is the one in the spotlight, more successful, and more recognised, while Ramsey’s character has to come to terms with living in her shadow.
It would flip the script because Ramsey usually plays the dominant or alpha figure. This time, he would be the one struggling to adjust, while she leads. The story could touch on love, ego, and acceptance, and it would be fascinating to see both of them explore those dynamics.

Do you think taking on that role would change how audiences perceive them?
Yes, and I think that’s important. I don’t like when actors are boxed into certain roles because the essence of acting is versatility. For Ramsey especially, it would break stereotypes and show audiences a softer, more vulnerable side. And for Nse, it would reinforce her ability to command the screen in a way that challenges the norm.
Would you rather see him as a hero, a villain, or something totally unexpected?
Something totally unexpected. We’ve already seen him do the hero thing. We’ve seen him as a villain. What excites me now is a role that none of us could have imagined for him, something that completely flips our perception.
If he nailed that role, could it win him an award?
Without a doubt. If Ramsey stepped into a role that challenged everything we thought we knew about him and delivered it with the depth I know he’s capable of, it would be award-worthy. And not just any award, but the kind that cements legacy.
How would you personally react if he actually got cast in that role tomorrow?
I would scream. Honestly, I’d scream my head and lungs out. That’s how excited I would be to see him step into something new and unexpected. It would feel like a dream come true.
