Dayo's father, a retired customs officer, hails from Nigeria, while his mother, a literature teacher, is from Kenya. In 2003, the family relocated to Indiana, USA, from Nigeria, eventually settling in California. Dayo graduated with a bachelor's degree in visual communications from Anderson University (Indiana) in 2009.
Before landing his role in The Hunger Games, Dayo honed his craft in local theater and film shorts. He went on to star in the drama Endless Love in 2014 and portrayed Danny Dyson in Terminator Genisys (2015). He also appeared in the NBC series Shades of Blue.
