Director Niyi Akinmolayan and actor Efe Irele are teaming up once again for ‘My Mother is a Witch’, a new drama set to debut in cinemas on May 23, 2025.
The upcoming feature marks the latest chapter in their growing body of work together, following titles such as ‘The House of Secrets’, ‘Casa De Novia’, and the two-part historical drama ‘Lisabi: The Uprising’ and ‘Lisabi: A Legend is Born’.
Irele leads the cast, which also includes Mercy Aigbe Adeoti, Timini Egbuson, and Neo Akpofure. Produced by Anthill Studios in collaboration with Frame Flix HQ and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, the film has been teased with the line: “Pain. Secrets. Closure. One trip home unlocks it all.”
On Instagram, Akinmolayan described the project as one that came from a “very deep place”, adding, “I’m glad it’s finally coming, and it’s got the most amazing performances from the cast. A must-see for everyone… everyone!!”
While full story details are still under wraps, the title and teaser suggest a drama rooted in personal and familial revelations.
‘My Mother is a Witch’ adds to the expanding slate of feature films from Anthill Studios and continues Akinmolayan’s collaborations with a recurring group of actors and creatives, with Irele at the centre of this latest offering.
