492 BCE. The kingdom of Persia has risen to global dominance, with the great King Ahasuerus at the helm. But something is not right. Queen Vashti has incurred the wrath of the king for proudly refusing to come in to the King at his request. Spurred by the counsel of Memucan, King Ahasuerus seeks a new queen from among all the virgins in his vast empire. Following Modecai's advise, Esther, a lowly orphan Jewish captive, turns up for the contest. But the Jews are faced with threat of extinction, as wicked Haman embarks on a heinous plot to wipe out an entire nation.
