Since LIONHEART(the movie) I’ve nt seen Igbo business model portrayed properly in an indigenous context like this movie. The theme shows brotherhood, first love syndrome, hardwork and honesty.Personally I saw diligence in labour, right attitude to work/business,entrepreneurship and the list goes on.
Young Paulo caught my attention, his mannerism to his boss’s business, his relationship with customers and colleagues, youthful exorbitance, his genuine love for young Afam.Neither can we downplay his character, commitment to bringing that character to life and giving Alex Ekubo no other choice than to depict the role excellently.
Young Obum(Chuks Joseph) is whoever he says he is,gave us that nwa boy commentary on football, his expression, intonation got me laughing hard. That boy cannot tell me he was once an apprentice in Ladipo cos he took it too personal.
Stan Nze brought his A+ game as always,a great performer, his delivery in each scene was subtle yet powerful, his true love to Amaka shows the depth of how much his patience with her all through those years and can never be unmatched. The plot twist was when Afam met Amaka at a Store, the PDA was screaming out loud lmao not knowing she came with Paulo ..so demoralizing but a man knows what he wants! Same with my gender cos who would have thought that Amaka will coming knocking and asking for Food. Food kwa?! What a steeze!!!
On the flip side,K.O.K showed us his sweet side a character we rarely saw in most movies over the years. Quite impressive!! Overall AFAMEFUNA is a good watch, a 10/10 👍
To think the writer and director of this movie aren’t from the Igbo Tribe speaks volume.
I love how the apprenticeship story was told, because I remember how my dad had Umu Nwa boi growing up
Afamefuna is an exciting movie. I loved watching it, and I fell in love with the cast as well; the actors killed their roles, and the movie revealed a lot.
However, the fact that a Yoruba person produced it forfeits the need for it. It would have had depth if an Igbo person who experienced it first-hand did, and this is not to say that Igbos weren’t in the background, but it took out of the movie.
